👉 Two Years in the Making: A Morning Walk Along Ayer 8’s New Lake Walkway
This morning’s walk began bright and early at 7:30am — one of those calm, refreshing starts where everything just feels just right. The air was still cool, the light soft, and there was a quietness all around that made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
We set off towards the newly completed walkway connecting Ayer 8 to the lake — a project that has been in the works for the past two years. Seeing it finally open and being able to walk along it feels genuinely satisfying. The path is thoughtfully laid out, making the journey smoother and far more scenic. As you stroll along, you can really appreciate the effort that has gone into improving the area. It’s one of those simple upgrades that ends up making a big difference to everyday life.
Along the walkway, there are two beautifully designed pagodas that add a nice touch to the surroundings and offer a place to pause and take in the view. One small safety note though — some of the steps are noticeably larger than standard steps. During the day it’s manageable, but at night I can easily see how someone could misstep, so it’s definitely something to be mindful of.
As we continued along the lake, the atmosphere remained peaceful — a few early walkers, the gentle movement of the water, and that unique calm you only really experience in the early hours. It’s moments like this that remind you why these simple daily routines are so valuable.
Of course, no morning walk is complete without a coffee stop. We headed over to ZUS Coffee Ayer 8, where we picked up our usual — one hot Americano and one iced Americano.
I have to admit, coming from the UK, it took me a solid two years to fully appreciate iced coffee. At first, it just didn’t feel right — coffee was always meant to be hot! But in this climate, especially after a walk like this, an iced Americano hits differently. Safe to say, I’ve now completely converted.
We sat for a while, enjoyed the coffee, and took in the surroundings before heading back — a simple, peaceful start to the day, but one that sets the tone perfectly.
