Daily Walk & Reflection – Rainy Friday at Ayer 8

Today after Friday Prayer on the 15th May 2026, I continued my afternoon with a walk around Ayer 8 before stopping at 10 Gram at around 2:30pm. The weather was rainy and overcast which made the whole area feel calm and peaceful. The lake view added to the atmosphere and it was nice watching the rain while people carried on with their day. The café itself was fairly full, mostly with ladies on their lunch break enjoying the cosy setting.

It reminded me how sometimes slowing down, walking, reflecting and eating with gratitude can be more enjoyable than rushing through the day.

Before eating, we are reminded of the beautiful Sunnah of mentioning the name of Allah:

“When any one of you eats food, let him mention the name of Allah (say Bismillah). If he forgets to mention the name of Allah at the beginning, let him say:
‘Bismillahi awwalahu wa akhirahu’
(In the name of Allah at its beginning and at its end).”
— Sunan al-Tirmidhi

For lunch I ordered mushroom soup, Aglio Olio Seafood and a chicken salad with no dressing. For my drink I had an iced long black. The food arrived quickly and everything tasted delicious. The total bill came to RM70 which felt reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.

Overall I would give it a 7.6 out of 10. The food, lake view and rainy atmosphere made it a very enjoyable experience, although some marks were lost because the venue itself is starting to look a little dated. Despite that, I would happily recommend everything I had to eat.
