🌿 Daily Walk Reflections – A Slower Start, A Clearer View

Today began differently — I had a bit of a lie-in. Sometimes, the body just needs that extra rest, and there’s no harm in listening to it.

By midday, I headed out for a walk under the warm Malaysian sun. There’s something about stepping out later in the day that feels calmer, less rushed — almost like the world has already settled into its rhythm.

My destination was Zus Coffee, a spot that’s quickly becoming part of my routine.

Being a Saturday, the place had a completely different energy. It was lively — people mingling, chatting, and enjoying their weekend. Families, friends, couples — everyone seemed to be slowing down in their own way. It added a warmth to the atmosphere that you don’t always get on quieter weekdays.

I ordered a simple Americano — nothing fancy, just clean and strong. I still managed to find a seat and sat for about ten minutes, looking out over the lake. Even with the buzz around me, there was a sense of calm — a reminder that reflection doesn’t always require silence, just presence.

That short pause by the lake felt like a small attempt not to waste either.

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth… are signs for those of understanding.” (Qur’an 3:190)

And the Prophet ď·ş said:

“There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.” — Sahih al-Bukhari

⚠️ A Quick Reality Check: Zebra Crossings in Malaysia

On the way back, I crossed at a zebra crossing — and this is important.

đźš— Cars do NOT reliably stop here.

Unlike in the UK, where drivers almost always give way, here you have to be extremely cautious. I actually had to pause halfway across because a car kept coming.

It’s a small moment, but a serious reminder:

  • Never assume cars will stop
  • Always stay alert, even when you have right of way

🏙️ A Surprise Discovery at Home

Back at Tamara Residence, I returned a plate to my neighbour on the 21st floor — a simple act, but it led to something unexpected.

He showed me that from our building, you can actually see the Merdeka 118 tower.

I was genuinely blown away. From that one view, everything clicked — we can now clearly identify the direction of KLCC from our apartment in Putrajaya.

🌙 Final Reflection

Today wasn’t about distance or steps — it was about awareness.

  • Rest when needed
  • Finding calm even in a crowd
  • Using time with intention
  • Staying alert in unfamiliar environments
  • And appreciating unexpected discoveries

Sometimes, the simplest walks carry the deepest lessons.
