Walking Through Blessings Often Overlooked

Clear Skies, Reflection, and New Discoveries Around Terra

This morning’s walk began at 7:30 AM under hot but beautifully clear skies in Putrajaya. Despite the rising heat, the air felt fresh and clean — one of those mornings that naturally brings gratitude to the heart.

Today’s route took me around the backside of the Terra area, where I unexpectedly saw the front entrance of Frasers Property for the very first time. Seeing familiar places from a different angle reminded me how often we pass through life without fully observing the signs around us.

Along the walk, I noticed a building named Terra Acara, 37,000 sq feet conference and wedding hall followed by another new building called Medical Academies Malaysia, medical college Putrajya. The area continues developing rapidly, with new structures and opportunities appearing constantly.

One of the liveliest moments of the morning came when I passed a large group dressed entirely in yellow taking part in a fun run. Their energy brought life to the streets and reminded me how movement and activity are part of a healthy and balanced life.

As I walked beneath the clear morning sky, I reflected on the words of Allah:

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding.”
— Surah Aal-‘Imran 3:190

Quran constantly calls believers to observe, reflect, and think deeply about the world around them. Even an ordinary morning walk can become an act of contemplation when the heart is attentive.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari

This hadith always feels especially relevant during morning walks. Good health, the ability to walk freely, clear air, functioning limbs, safety, and time to reflect are all blessings that can easily become overlooked in daily life.

The understanding of the Salaf (the righteous early generations of Muslims) was that the believer should constantly reflect upon the signs of Allah visible in everyday life. Abdullah ibn Mas’ud said:

“The true believer sees his sins as if he is sitting beneath a mountain fearing it may fall upon him.”

The Salaf lived with hearts that were awake and reflective. They viewed the changing world, the passing of time, good health, and even peaceful moments as reminders to return to Allah with humility, gratitude, and sincerity.

Today’s walk felt more than routine exercise. It became a reminder to slow down, observe carefully, appreciate blessings, and reconnect the heart to reflection and gratitude.

A simple Saturday morning walk — but full of signs for the one who reflects.
